at Mt. Pleasant's Mutts Marathon
44 Animals Find Loving Homes, $9,758 Raised

More than 44 animals found loving homes in one day at the Shelter Showcase Expo organized by Shelter Showcase on Sunday, September 12. The adoption event was the hit feature at the Mt. Pleasant Mutts Marathon in East Hanover, NJ. More than 1350 people attended the fun-filled event, and Shelter Showcase bought together more than 25 shelters and rescue groups from across New Jersey and as far away as Massachusetts. More than 75 volunteers from different organizations worked together to make this event a success. Pure and mixed breed dogs, cats, puppies, kittens, ferrets, reptiles and birds were available for adoption.

The Shelter Showcase Expo drew a large crowd and helped raise a total of $9,758 for animal welfare organizations, including a total of $1,258 for organizations participating in the Shelter Showcase Expo, and $8,500 for Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter through event admissions and the Mutts Marathon dog walk organized by Mt. Pleasant Animal Shelter. There were fun-filled activities and special guests including Rudy the FrisbeeLab, an animal communicator, Pet CPR, therapy dog testing, the NJ SPCA, a Tellington Touch therapist, pet contests, raffles and prizes, vendors and free giveaways. Even the “Adoption Fairy” paid a visit! The event was sponsored by Milkbone,, the Daily Record, New Jersey 12 News, Best Friends Animal Society and the Morris Animal Inn.

The Shelter Showcase Expo was the fourth annual super adoption event organized by Shelter Showcase, and the next one is planned for Sunday, September 18 2005. More information coming soon!
